Blog Design Inspiration – Greg Wilson

This weeks blog design inspiration from Greg Wilson. A blog written by  a DJ who lives in Merseyside and performs at festivals across the UK.  On his site he talks about the music he hears, the places he sees and the people he meets.

The look of the design is minimalistic in approach, the off-black Georgia font really makes the text easy to read set against the white background.  Links are presented throughout the site in Strawberry red which brings them neatly off the page.

WordPress Designer News, WordPress 4.2.2, Post State Tags, Automattic Buys WooCommerce, Jetpack

WordPress 4.2.2 is now available, this version fixes a critical cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable anonymous users to compromise a site, you are strongly advised to update your WordPress blogs immediately.

Post State tags is an interesting new plug-in appearing in the repository that highlights the left border color and background color and re-formats the post status as visual color tags in the WordPress Admin post list view (see screenshot below).

Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, has just acquired WooCommerce. With roughly 7.5 million downloads, it’s easily the most popular e-commerce WordPress plugin.

This one initially passed me by, right at the beginning of the month JetPack has been updated to version 3.5.3, an all important update to fix the Genericons vulnerability.  JetPack describes itself as ‘Your WordPress, Streamlined.’
At over 1million active downloads this popular WordPress Plug-in surely deserves attention.
