WordPress 4.2.2 is now available, this version fixes a critical cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable anonymous users to compromise a site, you are strongly advised to update your WordPress blogs immediately.

Post State tags is an interesting new plug-in appearing in the repository that highlights the left border color and background color and re-formats the post status as visual color tags in the WordPress Admin post list view (see screenshot below).

Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, has just acquired WooCommerce. With roughly 7.5 million downloads, it’s easily the most popular e-commerce WordPress plugin.

This one initially passed me by, right at the beginning of the month JetPack has been updated to version 3.5.3, an all important update to fix the Genericons vulnerability.  JetPack describes itself as ‘Your WordPress, Streamlined.’
At over 1million active downloads this popular WordPress Plug-in surely deserves attention.

WordPress 4.1.1 is released – This maintenance release fixes 21 bugs and will auto update. WordPress 4.2 Beta 2 is available for devs.

Jetpack 3.4 is now available and includes BruteProtect – Automatic acquired Parka LLS, makers of BruteProtect a security tool which is now integrated into the Jetpack plugin.

Fancybox plugin hacked, injecting sites with ISIS propaganda – The plugin is currently active on more than 100,000 sites, many are probably not running the latest version, and so if you haven’t taken the message seriously before; keeping your website up-to-date  (including plugins) will stop terrorists, kind-of.

Google update to stop Doorway Pages – Google will soon launch a ranking adjustment to better address these type of pages, websites with large and well-established doorway campaigns might see a broad impact from this change. Google is sending a clear message, don’t create doorway pages that are not unique and useful.

Chrome Fully supports Autocomplete – Now, Chrome fully supports the “autocomplete” attribute for form fields according to the current WHATWG HTML Standard. This allows web developers to label input element fields with common data types, such as ‘name’ or ‘street-address’. Google says Webmasters have increased the rate of form completions on their sites by marking up their forms for auto-completion.
