Web Design Critique: Brande07

September 27th, 2010, Category: Web Design Critique

This weeks web design critique is Brande07 by Rob Palmer. Beautifully clean mix of cool blues and well polished surfaces creates a relaxed and crafted feel. Rob obviously loves birds (Puffins) as theres illustrations of them everywhere. The attention to detail sets this design apart, lets discuss.

Check out the blog comments box, the search form and the footer overall to see Rob’s great eye for detail!

I really like the mix of the high contrast lines fading into the background – creates a nice balance. Also the colour scheme and illustrations keeps the site looking informal, yet not too informal. Overall very impressed!

Great use of colours and the Puffins actually make the website stand out

Using textures in web design is a really nice touch, but sometimes it just doesn’t fit what you are trying to get across.

    Nice use of information rollovers.

I agree, this is a very clean design. I really like the detail used on the tab where the date is displayed. This design is very well done.

The portfolio section looks great too and I love the idea of allowing comments(moderated)on your portfolio pieces as to encourage conversation about your work.

This is cool! And I agree with anthony on the portfolio section…

how you decide what sites to review, is there a list you work down because i would like to know what you think of mine..

@Mark (Sheffield) I like to find designs that have something different about them, maybe a particular area of the design is spectacular.
