My Google Docs Issue

google-docsDear Google Docs user, (this cant be good!)

We wanted to let you know about a recent issue with your Google Docs account.  We’ve identified and fixed a bug which may have caused you to share some of your documents without your knowledge (ok, it better not be my emails!).

This inadvertent sharing was limited to people with whom you, or a collaborator with sharing rights, had previously shared a document (So much for the surprise Bday party Mum!).

The issue only occurred if you, or a collaborator with sharing rights, selected multiple documents and presentations from the documents list and changed the sharing permissions.

This issue affected documents and presentations, but not spreadsheets (so my illegal porn ring continues, but my letter of complaint to Google has been shared!).
To help remedy this issue, we have used an automated process to remove collaborators and viewers from the documents that we identified as being affected.

Since the impacted documents are now accessible only to you, you will need to re-share the documents manually (so you make the mistake, and ill fix it!). For your reference, we’ve listed below the documents identified as being affected.

(I took this info out, I think Ive shared enough!)

We apologize for the inconvenience that this issue may have caused.  We want to assure you that we are treating this issue with the highest priority.

The Google Docs Team (no kind regards, nor best wishes, so very impersonal!)

Cloud Computing, Dont Be Evil

In the past I have thought about scrapping Microsofts Office suite and moving over to Google Docs and Cloud Computing, I never did it, and I definitely do not use Google Docs for my clients documents.

In the UK there has been so much data left on a bus / plane / Tube / laptop that the Taliban probably knows what washing up liquid you use and how many recycled bottles are in your Recycled Paper bin.

We all know the harsh reality of data theft and identity theft, for me the Cloud Computing has a long way to go before I trust Google Docs or any other application with anything other than my Mums recipe for Flapjack.
